Perhaps one of the most versatile toys out there, LEGO bricks can be a great way to enhance or add to any homeschool routine. LEGO bricks can be used in so many ways, whether to stimulate academic interest or general creativity, LEGO bricks are sure to be a big hit in your family. These are great ways to use LEGO bricks in homeschooling.

Use LEGO Bricks for Reading Comprehension

LEGO bricks can be a great tool to both test your students reading comprehension and fuel their imagination all at once. Homeschoolers can use LEGO bricks to build or act out scenes from books. Not only will this strengthen their comprehension of the book, but it also serves as a great way to make reading fun.

You can also use LEGO bricks to teach history. LEGO bricks can be used to create tangible scenes from history to make the lesson more relatable to young children.

Use LEGO Bricks to Encourage Creativity

While building scenes from books can be great for homeschoolers, sometimes it’s best just to make something from imagination. Encourage your kids to use LEGO bricks to build all sorts of wonderful things.

Additionally, give them simple prompts to build something. Examples of prompts might be cool, big, scary or anything else that can spark creativity in your children.

Use LEGO Bricks as Learning Props

LEGO Bricks can provide a tangible learning method for your homeschoolers. Use LEGO bricks to teach kids the alphabet, basic numbers and math, or even geography.

Math, in particular, is one subject that can be greatly improved with a few plastic bricks. LEGO bricks can make learning fractions, addition, subtraction, and tables a breeze for more visual learners.

Start a LEGO Building Club

At the end of the day, LEGO bricks are really fun toys. Consider partnering up with other homeschoolers to start a fun LEGO building club. Not only can this be combined with any of the other tips on this list, but it also promotes teamwork, social interaction, and creativity above all.

Make Use of the Variety of LEGO Brick Sets

While you can’t go wrong with a bucket of bricks, LEGO has plenty of different types of sets in stores. For older kids, consider using LEGO Technic and other probuilder sets.

There are plenty of sets out there to suit any age-range and skill level. Explore your options to enhance and add to any homeschool curriculum.

Design and Perform LEGO Brick Science Experiments

Science experiments can be some of the most fun and educational homeschool activities you can do, so it should come as no surprise that there are many ways to incorporate LEGO bricks into your experiments.

Use LEGO bricks to teach about natural disasters, and see if your child’s builds can stand up to earthquakes and tornados. Additionally, LEGO bricks can be a great waterproof toy to learn about the weather cycle.

You can also use LEGO bricks to create tangible models of scientific concepts, such as geology and biology.

LEGO bricks can be phenomenal tools to promote and stimulate learning, creativity, and imagination. And at the end of the day, they are a sure-fire way to make learning fun for your homeschoolers.
